Location: 630 St. Peter St. (French Quarter)
Date Visited: March 14, 2012 w/ J. Spinuzza & K. Hoffmann
Ordered: Gumbos (Seafood, Sausage)
Thoughts: Our visitors were eager for gumbo, and gumbo they got. While the wait staff don bowties The Gumbo Shop is a laid back place to try one of the city’s signature dishes. If gumbo is all you order definitely opt for the bowl as they don’t offer overly generous portions here; and keep in mind that you’re in the FQ so be prepared to spend $10 for a bowl. Feel free to ask for seconds of their warm french bread. We can’t vouch for much else on the menu besides gumbo but the restaurant’s signature dish was assuredly tasty.
